The future isn’t more sales tools. It’s specialized capabilities inside the platforms sellers already use.

I remember pre-ChatGPT when everyone complained that sales teams had too many tools. Now, with AI, almost anyone can create another sales tool with a sentence and a prompt.

That’s useful for ideation, but it feels like we may have gone from one extreme to the other. The question isn’t whether a tool can be built anymore. It’s whether people will maintain it, trust it, and remember where to find it when they need it.

I think we’ll eventually return to having a central platform for the seller, with specialized capabilities available inside it rather than spread across numerous standalone tools.

That’s one of the opportunities I see for Showpad: sellers can stay in a familiar environment while accessing more specialized workflows, including value articulation and business-case development.

The tools will keep getting easier to build. The real value will come from making them part of a coherent, trusted seller workflow.

The "too many tools" problem didn't go away — it just got cheaper to make worse.

You're right that whether something can be built is no longer the bottleneck. Getting sellers to open something after week two is.

Curious whether others think the answer is consolidation, or if the real problem is just that most tools never earned trust in the first place?
